Environmental and Economic Sustainability Aspects in Lime-Based Construction Materials

Lime-based construction materials (LBM) range from concrete blocks to mortars and plasters used in building new structures or conserve our cultural heritage. However, little interest has been aroused the scientific community about their sustainability assessment through Life Cycle Assessment. This research presents a case study carried out within framework of SUBLime Project (MSCA ETN-ITN network) aims at contributing understanding environmental economic LBM. Through real case-study, detailed Inventory was developed calculate impact associated different mixes, use additives, aggregates, etc. Furthermore, Cost Assessment methodology determine share items total cost cradle-to-grave production A thorough analysis combined results are presented along with suggestions regarding mix compositions, critical processes line achieve more sustainable LB materials.
